We are the original owners of our 1995 Nonsuch 260 (hull #05), which we purchased new in the fall of 1995 from a dealer in Waukegan, Illinois, taking delivery in January 1996 (in a snowstorm, naturally). A representative from Hinterhoeller came over from St. Catharines to help commission the boat.

It has been on fresh-water Lake Coeur d’Alene in northern Idaho ever since, where we have used it largely as a day sailor. We’ve never even filled the water tank. While we’ve sailed Fat Boy in some strong winds, it would be fair to say the boat has been gently used during its lifetime. The interior remains remarkably pristine for a 25-year-old boat.

The bottom was painted when we purchased the boat but not since. We do have the bottom professionally cleaned on a regular basis.

The 2gm-2-cylinder Yanmar diesel engine is well maintained and probably has fewer than 100 hours on it, as we only use it to motor in and out of our slip and to get to shore (we’re never out of sight of land) when the wind fails us.

When we took delivery we special-ordered a North Spectra racing sail, which has served us well in both light and heavy air. We’ve done maintenance and repairs on the sail as needed and had it professionally cleaned three or four years ago. And we have a custom sail cover; the sail is always covered when not in use.

We do not use the boat’s dodger (stored below), as we believe it affects visibility and boat speed; the dodger frame remains attached above, so it can be re-installed easily.

There are wind speed/direction and water depth gauges mounted in the cockpit, as is a Yanmar engine panel. A VHF radio is located in the main cabin. There are cockpit cushions, a stainless steel bowsprit with wood slats, an anchor and other equipment and items in the inventory. Please inquire with specific questions. Reply online or at (509) 993-1732.

Pictures are provided here to give an overview.

Our boat has provided us with many years of wonderful sailing, and we hope this (nearly) one-of-a-kind Nonsuch 260 finds a new owner who will appreciate all that it offers as much as we have.
