“Bellatrix”, a 1984 Nonsuch 26, is a rare Southern California sailboat in beautiful condition. Now is your chance to get an excellent Nonsuch without spending thousands of dollars to have it transported from the East Coast or the Great North. I’ve owned Bellatrix, hull number 147, since 2017 when I purchased her in Victoria, British Columbia, sailed her to Anacortes, WA and trucked her down to Channel Islands, CA. Last summer, I sailed her down the coast to Long Beach, California, where she is now berthed. Since that time. I have spent thousands on maintenance and upgrades. I’ve added new Wishbone Hangers from Mike Quill, had the Westerbeke 21 Diesel tuned with new injectors installed (runs like a top), installed all new running lines (halyard, mainsheet, all reefing lines), added a Garmin GPS, installed a Raymarine EV-100 Wheel Evolution autopilot, added a swim step, and converted over to a Nature’s Head Composting Toilet (best thing I’ve ever done. Easy to maintain, more storage, and no smells!). Cosmetic additions include all new interior cushions, a new Bimini top (with zippers and side curtains), had a bump cushion made for behind the helm, and had a set of custom companionway doors with changeable door inserts (tinted plexiglass shown, solid white, and gray screen) fabricated by Zancor. It also includes a full exterior cover not shown in these pictures. The sail is older, but it was sent out to be tuned up at a loft in British Columbia in 2016. The sail is always covered when not in use, It looks good and performs well. The only work I would suggest doing soon is having the bottom repainted. I have a monthly dive service cleaning the bottom, and they've rated it at a 5/6 out of ten. That tells me it needs paint next year.
This vessel is in excellent condition, has been meticulously maintained, and is a well upgraded example of a cruising classic. The upgraded interior cushions make the accommodations comfortable, while the diesel engine and updated electronics ensure you get to your anchorage safely and easily. Well respected construction known for ease of sailing. A full enclosure, diesel engine, wheel steering, plenty of upgraded electronics, and the most room you will find in 26 feet! She is clean and ready to go at Shoreline Marina in Long Beach, California! All pictures were shot on my iPhone yesterday, Thursday, July 30th, 2020
