1983 Nonsuch Classic 30
British Racing Green Hull, Deep Keel, Hard Dodger, Spinnaker & Gun-mounted Pole
(One-owner, gently used, fresh water only, Erie PA)
Ashram was launched at Buffalo in 1983 and sailed to Erie where she has been berthed at Erie Yacht Club. As sailboat racers we opted for the deep-keel and added a mainsail with extra roach, a cunningham, barber-hauler, and adjustable topping lift. An asymmetrical spinnaker on a gun-mounted pole makes the boat move well downwind in light air. Sometimes we raise just the spinnaker, which tacks to within 60 degrees of the wind. Before our children left home we raced semi-regularly and did well. Since then my wife and I have used the boat for cruising although we have won a few races by ourselves. We love Ashram and consider her a family member but advancing age, arthritis, and negative consequences of sun exposure have convinced us that it is time to move on. Since her launch, Ashram has been maintained meticulously with annual engine and transmission oil, fuel filter and water separator changes. Her most unique exterior feature is a custom hard dodger added in 2017. The interior features a built in, flat screen TV and DVD player. We will be exiting sailing so all accessories, including dock lines, anchoring equipment, cabin accessories (pots, pans, dishes, silverware, etc.) and accoutrements will be part of the exchange.
Our original asking price was too high. After two surveys and siscussing the boat with several potential buyers we are reducing it to $26,500 US. Email email@example.com for an equipment list as well as details, regarding the boat’s strengths and weaknesses. She is on the hard and winterized ready to sail away in the spring.
