POPCORN (previously Mariner's Cat IV)
The hull is #77 that was the last hull available after Hinterholler closed down in 1996. The hull was purchased by Gunther Latendorf who had owned and raced four previous Nonsuches. He hired four of the previous Hinterholler factory workers to help him with the finishing. I purchased the boat from Gunther in 1998 just after he won the Nonsuch Worlds and have owned her ever since. She is technically the LAST NONSUCH and has obviously become a part of our family.
Popcorn has been meticulously maintained during the 23 years we have owned her and serviced every year. We have made some improvements including a "Roll Bar", a stack pack, a new dodger, a Bruce anchor, a Gori folding prop, a stereo system with cockpit speakers and many items that would be considered as maintenance. Early on we had installed a new heavyer Botterell sail to accommodate the SF Bay winds. The boat is equipped with an MD40 Volvo diesel with low hours that has performed flawlessly, custom teak cockpit table, teak louvered cockpit doors, teak framed companionway and hatch screens, Lewmar anchor windlass, stainless steel gimbaled propane stove and oven, Autohelm auto pilot, Autohelm tri data, and much more. The boat is currently berthed in Sausalito, California. Price is $80,000 USD
