Please note; Southpaw will be available for sale in early January.
Southpaw is a well kept 1985 Nonsuch 30, hull number 300. She has lived her life in Connecticut with only two owners, until late 2022 when we became her proud 3rd owners and trucked her to Florida. She has spent 2023 and 2024 in Florida, exploring for three months in the water, and stored on land the remainder of the year. She has been lightly used for the second half of her life, and well maintained for all of it.
If you know anything about the Nonsuch, you know that these are great boats; exceptionally well made and very easy to sail. They are one of the fastest boats made for their size. Sailing downwind with the large mainsail feels like you are running with a spinnaker. Tacking is a simple matter of turning your wheel…no swapping sheets and winching the jib in.
They are also incredibly roomy and well designed with ample storage below. We have lived onboard the last two winters, and the space rivals many 35 footers.
Since they were predominantly built in the 1980s, they are becoming harder to find, especially those in as good condition as this boat, and especially in a southern climate. We originally were looking at southern boats when buying, and made the decision to buy up north and truck down, because the ones we looked at in the south were in poor condition.
Many upgrades have been done over the last two years:
New solar panels/controller 350w 2023
New main halyard 2023
USB plugs added 2023
New reef lines 2023
New LED bulbs all around 2023
New anchor line and chain 2023
New Lofrans manual windlass 2024
Reupholstered interior cushions 2024
New fresh water (antifreeze) pump 2024
200 aH LiFePo house batteries 2024
18A Victron DC/DC charger 2024
New shower sump pump 2024
New depth sounder 2024
The engine hour meter was stuck at 1470 hours when we bought her; I replaced the tachometer and the hour meter is working again. We purchased her from an elderly man who had not used her much as of late, and I felt that the actual hours were not that far off. The engine runs strong.
The sail is not original but I’m not sure how old it is. It still has plenty of life left for casual sailing/cruising. Canvas refurbished and is in nice shape. Dodger has hard polycarbonate windows which are very clear. Comes with Mack Pack sail cover and Bimini with rain deflectors. Electric winch for hoisting sail. Propane fired hot water and heat. Frost King refrigeration. Autopilot, wind, depth, Honeywell C80 GPS/radar.
Comes with 2021 zodiac dinghy and 5hp mercury 2 stroke outboard
She is currently on the hard at Glades Boat Storage in Moore Haven FL. She will be available for viewing before launching around mid January. If she is still for sale after a few days, we will launch her and head to Fort Meyers Beach, where she will be available for viewing as well.
I’m happy to email a copy of our pre purchase survey from September 2022 if you like.
Asking $52,500
